Walsall and Wolverhampton were the first Authorities to play football at District level for girls of Primary School age. This match took place in April 1993 and received National press interest. For three years both Associations searched for other opponents but without success until Liverpool came along. Since then the fixture with the Merseyside giants has been an annual one on a home and away basis. Sponsorship has been obtained by Mr. Jed Doyle in the form of the Exchange Estates Trophy which can rightly be regarded as a National Championship. Girls Football is the fastest growing Sport in England with the standard rising every year. This season Wolverhampton will play matches against Nottingham, Gloucester and Bassetlaw.
